Description
PVC Stem Nipple – Imperial Plain x Male BSP
Our PVC Stem Nipples provide a reliable connection between imperial PVC solvent weld fittings and female BSP threaded components. Manufactured from durable PVC-U (Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride), these adaptors feature a plain spigot end and a male BSP threaded connection.
The plain spigot end is designed to fit directly into a compatible imperial PVC solvent weld socket, making these fittings ideal for connecting threaded valves, pumps and equipment to PVC pressure pipework. Their corrosion-resistant construction makes them suitable for irrigation, swimming pools, water treatment and industrial applications.

- Applications: Irrigation, swimming pools, water treatment and industrial pipework
BSP Thread & Imperial Pipe Size Guide
The table below shows the nominal fitting size, standard BSP male thread major diameter and corresponding imperial PVC pipe outside diameter. The plain spigot end is designed to match the outside diameter of imperial PVC pressure pipe.
| Nominal Size | Male BSP Thread Ø (mm) | Imperial Pipe / Spigot OD (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| 1/2" | 20.9 | 21.4 |
| 3/4" | 26.4 | 26.7 |
| 1" | 33.2 | 33.6 |
| 1 1/4" | 41.9 | 42.2 |
| 1 1/2" | 47.8 | 48.3 |
| 2" | 59.6 | 60.3 |
| 2 1/2" | 75.2 | 75.2 |
| 3" | 87.9 | 88.9 |
| 4" | 113.0 | 114.3 |
Important: Imperial PVC pipe sizes are nominal and do not represent the actual outside diameter. For example, 2" imperial PVC pipe has an outside diameter of 60.3 mm, not 50.8 mm. BSP thread dimensions and imperial pipe outside diameters are different measurements and are not interchangeable.
Typical Applications
- Agricultural and horticultural irrigation systems
- Swimming pool pipework and filtration systems
- Water treatment and distribution systems
- Industrial PVC pressure pipework
- Connecting PVC fittings to threaded valves and pumps
- Transitioning between solvent weld sockets and BSP threaded connections
Installation Information
The plain spigot end is designed for insertion into a compatible imperial PVC solvent weld socket using suitable PVC solvent cement and cleaner. Ensure both surfaces are clean, dry and correctly prepared before assembly.
The male BSP threaded end connects to a compatible female BSP fitting. Use an appropriate thread sealing method and avoid overtightening, particularly when connecting to plastic threaded components.
Please Note: Confirm the correct imperial spigot size and BSP thread type before installation. Check the manufacturer's pressure and temperature ratings for the specific fitting.
